SYCET, in association with BASC Scotland, joined forces with Kelvinside Academy at their Wilderness Camp in Corgarff, Strathdon earlier this week for 2 days of countryside activities. Despite rather damp weather everyone had a great time.
On Monday the 15 S6 pupils were given a talk by Catriona from Scotland’s Natural Larder, followed by a demonstration of wild game preparation and cookery.
Tuesday saw a full programme of events including building duck tubes, deer identification, bushcraft skills including fire making and shelter building, clay pigeon shooting and a simulated deerstalk in the evening.
On Wednesday morning they were joined by Ali Hutchens who gave instruction on fly casting.
Huge thanks to BASC, Scotland’s Natural Larder and Ali for all the activities, and to Glasgow Angling Centre who donated equipment.
We look forward to further collaborations in the future!
