Fifteen children aged 8-16 from across Scotland gathered on the banks of the Tay at Meikleour on Sunday for a day organised by Cara and Ali from SYCET, by kind permission of Claire Mercer-Nairne and assisted by her team from Meikleour Fishings.
The children learnt about the life cycle of the salmon before joining the instructors, and volunteers from Angling for Youth Development (AFYD), on the riverbank to learn about the management of the river and the insects that the fish feed on (kick sampling), as well as getting casting tuition.

Many thanks to Claire and Calum from Meikleour for hosting, and to all the instructors and volunteers who gave up their Sunday to help introduce our young people to fishing – it was a great day.
